Acquires Multiple Territories on
American Mary
IndustryWorks Pictures, the producer of its latest horror film AMERICAN MARY announced today that Universal Pictures International Entertainment, the international home entertainment division of Universal Pictures, has acquired all rights to AMERICAN MARY for a number of international territories, including the UK and Germany.
From film makers Jen and Sylvia Soska, the creative team that made the indie-smash film Dead Hooker in a Trunk, we introduce AMERICAN MARY starring Katharine Isabelle (GINGER SNAPS, INSOMNIA) and Julia Maxwell (HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, CHARLIE ST. CLOUD).
American Mary tells the story of a medical student named Mary (Katharine Isabelle) who grows increasingly broke and disenchanted with medical school and the established doctors she once idolised. The allure of easy money sends a desperate Mary through the messy world of underground surgeries which leaves more marks on her than the so-called freakish clientele.
Following its market screening in Cannes earlier this year, AMERICAN MARY will premiere in the UK on Monday August 27th at Film4 FrightFest at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square, London with Katharine Isabelle and the directors in attendance. UPIE is looking to release AMERICAN MARY in early 2013.
